Once in a great while, an idea becomes a wonderful reality to be shared with kindred spirits everywhere.  The Departing Shot was just that!

Terry Huff of Poway, CA, a dear friend, was the consummate outdoorsman as well as a loyal and generous supporter of Ducks Unlimited who loved his dogs – especially Danny Boy! When Danny Boy completed his “last hunt,” Terry sought to commemorate this very special friend in some unforgettable way.  He came up with, you guessed it, The Departing Shot!

Our founders, Bill Kidwell and Jim Donigan, decided to make this unique service available to fellow dog lovers.  Being lifelong hunters themselves, Bill and Jim have long known the pleasure of hunting behind hard-working dogs who spend endless hours and untold miles in all kinds of weather conditions making upland and waterfowl hunts memorable.

We have thoroughly enjoyed traveling the country sharing this special tribute to our “friends of the field” with hunting and outdoor enthusiasts alike.  It is our wish and plan to provide future generations of like-minded dog lovers this dignified and well deserved farewell!
